About Us

The German Speaking Damenklub (Ladies’ Club) of the Tri-Cities Area has been in existence for over 50 years. The idea was to bring German speaking ladies together, practice their native language, traditions and culture.
On May 31, 2008, many members were present at the dedication of the historic marker “First Germans at Jamestown.”

Attendance has changed over the years, presently we have 50 members.
Annual events are held such as the Oktoberfest, Nikolaus(Saint Nicholas) Party, Christmas Party for members and spouses, Faschings (Mardi Gras) Party, Anniversary Party in March, and many more. There is always an excuse to celebrate. We also visit the Veterans at Sitter & Barfoot in Richmond, usually in October and December, entertain them with music, songs, and bring them some home-made refreshments.

For the monthly meetings we present a variety of programs – including white elephant sale, craft sales, and invite guest speakers for different topics. We also present programs on German States (Bundesländer), their particular customs, and serve the special refreshments from these regions. There is always plenty of food (mostly home-made) at our functions.

Membership is open to all German speaking ladies. Guests are always welcome. Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the Optimist Club, 916 Meridian Avenue, Colonial Heights, 23834, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

No meeting is scheduled for July.

We would love to hear from you!
