Richmond Oktoberfest

The only authentic German Oktoberfest in Central Virginia

54th Richmond Oktoberfest Recap

Once again, we are waiting for the Richmond Oktoberfest to return. The 54th Oktoberfest has sadly ended. Oktoberfest of Richmond wishes all the best for the coming year.

We had visitors from as far away as Japan this year in addition to our usual folks from the D.C. and Norfolk areas, and of course Richmond.

The Oktoberfest of Richmond thanks the volunteers who make the event possible.

Our official photographer Helga captured the year beautifully as usual. Be sure to check out this year’s photo gallery, maybe you’ll see yourself or a new friend you made at the fest.

Our stein hosting winners are pictured below with their three liter steins. This event is fun for everyone, participants and observers alike. In case you are wondering, those are working steins, and are a bit awkward to use when full. Three liters of beer weighs about 6.5 pounds, not including the weight of the stein.

If you want to see more of Die Lingen Almdudler, check out their website or follow them on facebook. These guys are the Van Halen of Oktoberfest bands (if you know, you know) and perform at multiple Oktoberfests each year. We always look forward to seeing them and feel lucky we do not have to travel far to do so.

The SGTEV Hirschjäger (hersh – yay-ger ) Bavarian Dancers can be found at their website and on facebook These guys perform mutliple times throughout the year and would love the support. They have been doing traditional Bavarian folk dances for over 50 years. We think the experience and dedication to their art shows in the quality of the presentations (they bring a real anvil to the party).

Information about the CCA Temple (Shrine) Sauerkrauts German Band can be found on their website. They are available for private parties, conventions, and similar events desiring “happy” music. They perform genuine Bavarian music in authentic costumes, sure to bring sparkle to any occasion. Our MC says that they are as close as you can get to a German “oompah band” in the Richmond Area. Did you know their 50th anniversary is approaching?

We are tentatively back at Meadow Event Park next year, and hope to see you then.
